Bavarian-Austrian network SINOPES
Production efficiency through production-integrated sensor technology and process monitoring: this is the goal we are pursuing with our Bavarian and Austrian project partners in the cross-border SINOPES network. We want to make it easier for small and medium-sized companies in particular to access and use the latest measurement and testing technology.
Term: 01.02.2023 to 31.01.2026
The cross-cluster project “MiQSeN: Miniaturized sensor technology and quantum sensor technology through nanotechnologies” focuses on the integration of state-of-the-art nanotechnologies in highly miniaturized sensor technology and quantum sensor technology. The aim is to sensitize Bavarian companies to the potential of nanotechnology in sensor technology and to promote the development of new technologies and possible applications.
Term: 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2024
Focus on municipal and industrial water management
As part of the NUTSEN and NUTSEN 2.0 cross-cluster projects, we have been promoting technology transfer in the field of sensor-based solutions since 2023. Our guide presents a variety of technologies “made in Bavaria” that help municipal and industrial water management to use resources more efficiently and develop more resilient infrastructures. An important step for environmental and climate protection as well as the sustainable supply of people and the environment.

Internationally recognized scientists, experts from companies and up-and-coming young researchers from the field of data science offer a multifaceted insight into where and how industry and research are using machine learning and data science now and in the future. The specialist presentations hit the nerve of the times: deep in content and yet with a concrete reference to our living and working environment. Through its involvement in this annual conference, the Sensor Network supports the promotion of women in data science and the expansion and media visibility of the regional data science community.
An overview of current trends in sensor technology as well as research and development areas/developments of sensor technology companies in Bavaria.
Next event: September 1 to 4, 2025 (once a year)
Smart materials in the form of fiber composites with integrated sensor technology offer greater safety in use, e.g. in the automotive and aviation industries, thanks to real-time monitoring of the component condition, and at the same time open up the potential for new, data-based business models. The aim of the cooperation between the MAI Carbon and Sensor Technology clusters is to support small and medium-sized Bavarian companies in particular in recognizing and exploiting potential in the area of product development and the production process.
Term: 01.01.2022 to 31.12.2022
In a cross-industry and cross-cluster cooperation, we have developed a future-oriented development concept for the region with the Mobility & Logistics Cluster, the IT Security Cluster e. V. and BioPark Regensburg GmbH. AIR stands for “Artificial Intelligence Regensburg”, an initiative of companies and the two universities, clusters and the city of Regensburg. The result is a lively, continuous discourse on the topic of AI with companies in the region with regular exchange and knowledge transfer offers as well as the cluster service “Data-driven Business”, which also includes seminar offers for this area.
Term: 01.10.2021 to 30.09.2022
In a joint project, the Sensor Technology and New Materials clusters focused on the development of a new generation of printed circuit boards. Their aim was to promote the use of bio-based substitutes for synthetic resins or natural fibers in order to replace non-recyclable materials. This cross-cluster project supported the Bavarian bioeconomy strategy. By using the established cluster structures, projects in the bioeconomy were initiated and actors across industries and sectors were networked.

Qualification projects
The introduction of AI has a significant impact on the world of work and therefore on VET: it requires education providers to teach new roles and tasks to their students, drives work complexity and requires VET professionals to learn new forms of collaboration. To manage this change, we are building transnational partnerships between policy makers, education providers, research institutions, professional associations and industry representatives. We use the knowledge triangle (business, education and research) to ensure the quality of VET and to add AI-related content to existing curricula or introduce new ones.
Term: 15.06.2023 to 14.06.2027
VReduMED promotes collaboration between healthcare education and medtech providers, especially SMEs/start-ups. The project team uses virtual reality as a key technology to improve the education of nursing students, enrich the further training of nursing professionals, support the adoption of MedTech assistance systems by the nursing sector and initiate the joint development of demand-oriented MedTech solutions. The aim is to increase the attractiveness of nursing work and ensure high-quality nursing services in the future.
Term: 01.04.2023 to 31.03.2026
The increasingly rapid and multidimensional change in the world of work requires more adaptability and willingness to change on the part of companies and therefore their employees than ever before. The “DEIN TAG II” project aims to adapt employees' skills to precisely these changing labor market requirements. As part of DEIN TAG II, we offer the training courses “Agile Project Management”, “Agility³ | Companies, Teams & Projects”, “Business Administration for Engineers”, “Data Analytics”, “Edge Engineering”, “Leadership Training”, “Intensive Training Communication, Presentation & Rhetoric”, among others.

Technological developments in combination with a volatile macroeconomic situation are also changing qualification needs, job profiles and requirements for recruiting skilled workers. As the transform.r transformation network, we advise and support companies in the development of flexible solutions that ensure economic stability. At the same time, we develop new strategies for the region within the network. Our free services include seminars, specialist forums and the “transform-DiaLog” meeting for company practitioners. Securing skilled workers for the automotive and supplier industry is the focus of our work in the transform.r project - we welcome an exchange across industry boundaries.
